Barry and I love having our entire family of 20 for Family Feasts.  We love the excitement, the preparation, our 9 grandkids’ faces when they see their favorite foods and the almost indescribable love in our our adult kids’ eyes when they see their favorite meals from their childhoods, meals often shared through the years with people they’ve loved the most.  And having my own Mom, Rita, at these feasts is a blessing beyond blessings.

These meals are wonderfully fun, wonderfully chaotic, wonderfully wonderful.  We wouldn’t have it any other way.

The way Barry and I “run” these feasts is thinking “easy”… easy as in having our table set in advance (I LOVE setting a table for everyone around our theme of the day), using tried-and-true recipes, and having most of the prep-work done before our guests arrive.  This past Sunday afternoon-into-evening was the annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony in our town, and yes, this was a good enough reason for a Family Feast!  And at our home, a Family Feast begins with Hunt’s…

Barry made his famous from-scratch meatballs from his Mom’s recipe (yum!) and simmered them all day long in his famous homemade Hunt’s Italian-Style Pasta Sauce (double yum!)…

I made not just one, but two Lasagnas to go around…

Combine all of this with a huge salad, baskets of fresh Italian bread and a family of 20, wonderfully packed around a festive dinner table… and you have memories being created right before your eyes.

Barry and I love this.  We wouldn’t have it any other way…
