Seeing dreams come true for your own children…
Parents wish dreams-come-true and happily-ever-afters for their children. It’s part of the parent plan.
And watching it unfold like a lovely flower right before your eyes is… well, it is part of a miracle.
There are twists and turns on this road; most certainly there are. But sometimes there are hints. Some of these hints we do not recognize as part of the miracle, but you know that hindsight is always 20/20 thing. It never fails.
This one little hint is a photo of my daughter Jane, age 11, ready to jump off the famous bridge on Martha’s Vineyard… a family tradition that we would repeat year after year after year…
Flash forward to this past Saturday… 20+ years later. This is a photo of Jane’s husband, Brian, on the same bridge on Martha’s Vineyard, loving this bridge, loving this tradition, loving this adventure, loving my daughter…
This year, 2013, Jane is sitting this one out… because there’s a baby on board!
But that Dream-Come-True and Happily-Ever-After?
That began a long, long time ago.
With two kindred spirits.
Whose random meeting at a 5-mile run in Warren, RI one hot August evening in 2009?
Wasn’t so random after all!
It was always meant to be…
So beautifully written, Sharon! I have goosebumps reading this. SO happy for you and your wonderful family 🙂
Mom, this is so special. I love that we have these photos of me and Brian on the same bridge, all these years later. It is so worth it to not jump off the bridge this year for our little growing baby!! I love you!
So very beautiful!
So cool! A little scary though! I could never do that! And yes, I believe they are meant to be too and so excited about the baby on board!
What exciting news!! Congrats to your family 🙂
I love jumping off that bridge!
It makes my heart sing that Jane and Brian are having their first baby. There is such joy and pride and love in watching our children’s dreams come true. xo
Awww, I love this post! It’s fun to think of what these “signs of the future” will be for my own kids someday.
