The Electric Slide, this time revisited by grandkids…

What’s the “Electric Slide”?

This past weekend was a 3-day whirlwind of 3 grandkids participating in the New England Long Course Swim Championships at Harvard – 12-year old Taylor, 10-year old Andrew and 8-year old William, each of whom had earned the honor of being there…

We had the spectators, (l – r) Henry (5), Alex (7) and Ben (6)…

Including the youngest spectator of them all, Victoria (almost 3 weeks), nestled like a little bunny in her cousin Taylor’s arms…

The swimmers had fabulous swims; and then there was the “down-time” in-between morning and evening sessions, where hanging around the hotel room isn’t fun.  So what do you do?  Go out and explore!

There’s the bee-ah gahden outdoor dining experience at Hahvahd Squa-ah with these Coutos, our son Keith, daughter-in-law Nicole, Taylor and Andrew while the McClellands allowed Victoria a nice afternoon nap…

And the discovery, thanks to Andrew’s astute tune-in to marketing, of FREE delectably delicious yogurt and fun yogurt experience at the new Yogurtland (a separate post to come!), also at Harvard Square…

Then back to the hotel to join the McClelland boys; where else?

And afterwards, while walking around Copley Square, the discovery of a Family Fun Fair, sponsored by Magic 106.7… with music, games and dancing beyond your wildest imagination!  Among so much other stuff, there was hula hooping…

ALEX!

Jump-roping…

Simon Says…

Alex, Henry, William & Ben in the mix!

There was a Scavenger Hunt (the McClelland boys won a 106.7 Beach Towel because Pop-up had wireless glasses!), the Hokey-Pokey, Limbo, Chicken Dance and much more.

But it was the Electric Slide that brought the greatest laugh of the early evening to us adult on-lookers.

When the DJ announced the Electric Slide, Audrey said to her boys, “Are you guys gonna do the Electric Slide?”

To which Alex answered, “Will it hurt?”  I can only imagine the ELECTRIC SLIDE images that were sliding through Alex’s head at that moment.  But it didn’t take long…

To learn the cool Electric Slide DANCE moves!

That’s funny, your family always looks like they have so much fun. They play it at the kids’ family dance and most of the kids are amazed that it’s the parents that get up and do the dance. Yes kids, we used to dance too.
