I have lived in the Ocean State (Rhode Island) for the last 10 years with my family. I actually grew up here and went to college here, too – only leaving Rhode Island for 6 years while I lived in NYC. I moved back because – to me – it’s the most beautiful place in the world. You can reach the water in less than 15 minutes regardless of where you are in Rhode Island. I love the water… I love the beach… to me, the sound of waves crashing on the sand is the most relaxing and most peaceful sound in the world to me. Growing up in Rhode Island I spent my summers at the beach, it was just a regular family outing and I always appreciated the beauty and the accessibility that I had to it. I never, ever took it for granted as a child, teen, young adult, adult… ever.

Now as a mom of 5, with a jam-packed busy work schedule and a calendar filled to the brim with appointments, practices, play dates for my kids… I don’t have much time for me, never mind getting to my “happy place.” We’re here. We’re there. We’re everywhere. Believe me, I love being busy with my family, but there can be times when I just would love some down time with everyone. It’s not always easy to “fit” into our schedules, but it’s something that I think it important.

I need an escape!! 🙂

The Key Lime flavor inspired me to think BEACH, my favorite spot in Rhode Island and FAMILY, the people I love to be around the most. I just really wanted to spend some time with my family at one of our local beaches, which also has a gorgeous park attached to it. It was… the best thing ever.

Just looking out at the calm water and seeing the beautiful sun and boats and people walking along the beach, it immediately relaxed me. It’s just amazing how a simple place can change how I’m feeling. The thing is — I live so CLOSE, but I never come here! Life is just too busy, so I loved having the opportunity to slow down and truly enjoy this my exotic escape.

And of course, I needed to actually head DOWN TO THE WATER!!

After breathing in the gorgeous beach air and watching my kids run around on the beach, we all went to the grass field behind the beach for some play and relaxing time together!

For me, there’s nothing better than this kind of exotic escape.

A comfy blanket.

A fun game.

A ball (or lime!) to play catch with.

Laughter.

Happiness.

Peace.
