First Hand Experience with Panorama Prenatal Testing

My sister announced that she was pregnant at the beginning of November. I couldn’t be more excited for her! I was hoping and wishing that she would have another baby and when I heard that she was pregnant, I was OVER THE MOON!! Also… I know how special it is to have siblings and I wanted that for her son, too.

As you know if you’re an avid reader of MomGenerations.com, I’ve been working with Panorama Prenatal Testing throughout the year. I worked with them last spring and I was just in AWE of the modern technology and all that can be done now for women who are expecting.

If you’re not familiar with the Panorama Prenatal Testing, this is what it is all about…

Panorama® is a DNA screening test that can tell you important information about your pregnancy. You can find out if your baby is at risk for having Down syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalities. Panorama can also tell you the gender of your baby. Non-invasive and highly accurate, Panorama has the lowest false positive rate of any prenatal screening test for the commonly screened chromosomal abnormalities, trisomies 21, 18 and 13. And, Panorama can be done as early as nine weeks into your pregnancy using a simple blood draw.

Pretty incredible, right!?

I think it’s utterly amazing that as early 9 weeks you are able to detect any potential chromosomal abnormalities and (for those you want to know) identify the baby’s gender. And again, all of this is done through a simple blood test.

As soon as my sister told me she was pregnant, I brought this up to her as a possible option for her to do. I’m done having babies, but I’ll tell you what – I would have jumped at this if I had had the chance to a few years ago. I think it’s just a wonderful option to have open for moms who would like the information and the testing and the knowledge early of their baby. My sister was VERY interested in taking the test, so right around 9 weeks along, she had her blood drawn for the Panorama Prenatal Testing. My sister had all of her test results back in less than 7 days… this was before her 1st sonogram at 12 weeks!

I sat down with my sister and had her answer some questions about the test and why she recommends it for other moms.

Why did you want to take the Panorama test?
I loved that it would allow me to know important genetic information about my baby very early in my pregnancy – as early as nine weeks! It was great to know that it is a non-invasive tool for expecting moms to determine the risk of certain conditions in their babies. I was also excited to be able to find out the gender of my baby so early in my pregnancy.

Was it easy to do?
It was SO easy! As easy as going to a lab for a blood draw. I just needed to have my OB/GYN office fill out a simple form for me to bring to the lab.

Were you surprised that you would get the results back in 7-10 days?
I was very surprised that I would get the results so quickly. It meant not having to wait on pins and needles throughout much of my pregnancy to obtain such essential genetic information.

What were your results?
Thankfully, my results determined that I my baby was low risk for genetic abnormalities. They also determined that my baby is a girl.

Why would you recommend this to another woman?
I would definitely recommend this to another woman – in fact, I have recommended it to all of my newly pregnant and trying-to-conceive friends! It could not be easier to do, and it gives such important information.

My sister had pre-planned it where I would find out the sex of her baby and plan a gender reveal for her and her husband. I was honored to take this task on!!

How fun is this!!??
