My 4 sons are obsessed with playing sports.
They swim. They play baseball. They play football. They play basketball. They run. They race.
They everything.
And guess what?
So does their little sister.
She follows them around like a puppy and wants to do EVERYTHING they do!
Including sports… at 3 years old, she knows how to throw a football, baseball, basketball and hit a hockey puck! Personally, I love it! Makes me smile and so proud! 🙂
I LOVE seeing brands that I use and that I love encouraging girls to play sports. For more than 30 years, Always has been championing girls’ confidence globally, and has changed the simple phrase of #LikeAGirl to mean powerful and amazing things.
The new Always #LikeAGirl – Keep Playing video has launched and is tackling another important issue for girls: The vital role sports play in building girls’ confidence at puberty and beyond.
Powerful, right?
Always revealed new survey data including:
· By age 17, at the end of puberty, more than half of girls (51%) will have quit sports
· 67% of girls feel that society does not encourage them to play sports
· Sports is critical in building confidence: a 2015 US consumer data study found that women ages 18-24 are twice as likely to be confident if they play sports regularly than those who do not play at all
For this new Always #LikeAGirl video, Always partnered with Alex Morgan, American soccer player, Olympic Games gold medalist and FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, just in time for this year’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The new Always #LikeAGirl – Keep Playing video highlights how sports is critical in building confidence.
According to new Always survey data, seven out of ten girls feel that they do not belong in sports – leading them to quit playing at puberty, when sports could benefit young girls most.
We don’t want this to happen.
In my opinion, start NOW with girls. Start when they’re young and the world is their oyster!! Thank you Always for helping to change the rules and the game! 🙂
