What is your LEGACY? How to Create a Legacy

What is your LEGACY?

So what is your legacy? A LEGACY is something that happens or exists as a result of things that happened at an earlier time.

I’ve never really stopped to think about my legacy and what I would like to leave behind. I’ve always known that my children are my legacy, they will always be my greatest legacy… but what about my great-grandkids and then their kids. What will they know about me? I only started thinking about this very topic this morning when this Steve Harvey video from Oprah’s masterclass happened upon my YouTube page…

I believe in signs from the universe. I always have and I always will. Today my my grandmother would’ve turned 93rd years old. I remember celebrating with her last year at 92! She was so happy and so touched that we all came together to celebrate with her.

Many of you know my grandma from this very blog. She was the 4 foot 8 dynamo who was still doing 5K’s up until last year! She was the 4 foot 8 fashionista who would buy a sweater she loved in every color it came in. She was the 4 foot 8 dynamo who would read romance novels with me. She was the 4 foot 8 dynamo who would always sneak my sons a dollar when I turned my back. She was everything you want a grandmother to be and more. She loved me and loved my kids unconditionally, but most importantly – we knew it because she showed it.

What is your legacy? My grandma’s legacy will be knowing that she supported me and worked hard to help me out every single way she possibly could. She would always ask me, “Can I help you at all?” And I would always smile and say, “No Grandma, I’m all set.” Just knowing that she was there for me and wanted to do whatever she could to help me was priceless enough. I’m honored that my children got to know her and have a relationship with her. Even up till the days right before she passed away, she had a beautiful and special moment with my oldest son William (who was named after her late husband). I’ll never forget that moment in time. And I know William won’t either.

Legacies. What is your legacy?

It’s something I will be thinking about now. Leaving a great legacy behind. It’s something I will be aware of now.
