Fun Braided Hairstyle for the Summer

When it comes to summer hairstyles I love to make sure they’re styles that will last on Victoria throughout the day. She’s at camp. She’s at the pool. She’s running around with her brothers and friends. It’s just important to make sure her hairstyles are good ones that aren’t going anywhere!

I tried this one on her last summer but I didn’t braid the hair all the way down. I just left it as pigtails, which is another option that you could do, too. I thought the braids were a pretty added touch.

I promise, as always – this is an easy hairstyle to do. The toughest part about it is dividing the hair at the beginning. That is literally it. That’s the toughest part! Once you get through that the rest is easy. I also promise to do a video on the best way to part hair so it’s straight.

Summer Hair Tutorial

Here is the full hair tutorial on how to do this easy and fun braided hairstyle for the summer. I would suggest starting with hair styling cream to make it easier for you!

Step-by-step tutorial:

  1. Divide the hair into 4 sections, 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. I share the comb below that I use to make sure I can create the easiest and best parts in the hair.
  2. Take one of the top sections and smooth it with a brush and cross it over to the bottom opposite ponytail.
  3. As you combine the hair, simply divide this “new” combined section and three-strand braid it all the way down.
  4. Repeat on the other side.
  5. I go back and make sure I smooth everything down with my hair wax stick (linked below, too!).
  6. You can also go back and add ribbons or bows – this will make it extra cute! 🙂

I just love this one so much and it’s such a great one to do!

Hair Products To Use on this Hairstyle

Here are the hair products that I used for this particular hairstyle.

HAIR ELASTICS

These are the Teenitor hair elastics I’ve been using lately. I was recommended to use them and couldn’t wait to give them a try. Victoria’s hair is on the thicker side, so I need to make sure I have hair elastics that will hold the hair and be extra durable. I also want to make sure the hair elastics won’t damage or crease the hair.

best hair elastics

  • Strong and stretchy: The elastics are not so thin that they break when you try to stretch, but they are not so thick that you can’t stretch them properly. They have stayed in very fine, soft hair through days of gardening. Also, they slide off the braids when grabbed and pull off clean. No rolling and catching the hair to make knots.
  • Great deal: This is a great deal on 2000 pieces clear rubber elastic hair bands, enough for braiding different hairstyles. You can keep a couple dozen in your purse, another couple dozen in your gym bag, some in your car…you get the idea. Any time you realize you need a hair tie, you’ll have a stash.

The best part is that you get 2000 for under $7!

HAIR STYLING CREAM

It’s the one question I get asked the most lately, and I love it. It’s important to make sure you prep the hair before you create a hairstyle. I love to use hair styling cream because I know it will help to keep the hair smooth and shiny.

I prefer using Dae Hair Styling Cream.
