Knotted Ponytail Hairstyle for Long Hair

If you’re looking for a hairstyle that does not require braiding, this is the one for you! All you need to know is how to tie a knot, that’s it! This is a super simple and easy knotted ponytail hairstyle for long hair.

As much as I love sharing hairstyles that are braided, one of the most common requests I get is for “super easy hairstyles you can do in no time!” I know that all hairstyles take some time, but I’m always up for the challenge to find easy and simple hairstyles that you can do quickly.

This knotted ponytail is a favorite of mine. I’ve been doing this on my own hair for years and just started doing this one on Victoria within the last couple of years. It’s a sweet one and is a great hairstyle for back to school. It’s also a wonderful hairstyle for a special occasion.

When it comes to a knotted ponytail you don’t have to put much thought into it, you just basically need to know how to do a knot and that’s about it! I appreciate easy hairstyles because they’re great for beginners and also great when you’re running short on time in the mornings.

Step-by-step breakdown of this hairstyle:

  1. Brush the hair nice and smooth and take a small section from each side.
  2. Knot these 2 sections together.
  3. Take the hair underneath and wrap the 2 section tales around it.
  4. Hair tie the 2 sections together.
  5. Tighten the hair elastics as best as you can.

This is the easiest hairstyle ever, I’m telling you – it’s a great one to have on hand to do!

You can easily take this one out by untying the section. It’s just as simple to take out as it is to put in the hair.

Hair Products To Use on this Hairstyle

Here are the hair products that I used for this particular hairstyle.

HAIR ELASTICS

These are the Teenitor hair elastics I’ve been using lately. I was recommended to use them and couldn’t wait to give them a try. Victoria’s hair is on the thicker side, so I need to make sure I have hair elastics that will hold the hair and be extra durable. I also want to make sure the hair elastics won’t damage or crease the hair.

best hair elastics

  • Strong and stretchy: The elastics are not so thin that they break when you try to stretch, but they are not so thick that you can’t stretch them properly. They have stayed in very fine, soft hair through days of gardening. Also, they slide off the braids when grabbed and pull off clean. No rolling and catching the hair to make knots.
  • Great deal: This is a great deal on 2000 pieces clear rubber elastic hair bands, enough for braiding different hairstyles. You can keep a couple dozen in your purse, another couple dozen in your gym bag, some in your car…you get the idea. Any time you realize you need a hair tie, you’ll have a stash.

The best part is that you get 2000 for under $7!

HAIR STYLING CREAM

It’s the one question I get asked the most lately, and I love it. It’s important to make sure you prep the hair before you create a hairstyle. I love to use hair styling cream because I know it will help to keep the hair smooth and shiny.

I prefer using Dae Hair Styling Cream.
