Easy Sports Hairstyle for Girls

If you’re like me and have a little one that loves to play sports, you know that her hair needs to be UP as much as possible! I’m here to share an easy sports hairstyle for girls that is cute and really help keeps the hair up during sports time!

Easy Sports Hairstyle for Girls

easy sports hairstyle for girls

When it comes to sports hairstyles for girls, I’m all about finding hairstyles that are super easy to do, but most importantly – hairstyles that are going to stay put! I love to be able to find updos for girls that work for running, gymnastics, dancing, and anything else that involves sports movement.

Victoria is playing field hockey right now, so I’ve been trying to find hairstyles that will keep her hair up while she’s dashing around at practice, but also during games, too. You don’t want your hair falling in your face when you’re playing sports.

Sporting Hairstyle for Girls

This cute braid hairstyle for girls is a great one for field hockey (or any sports). I love how it looks when it’s done and the best part is that it’s not that difficult to do! This one can be done easily before your child needs to head out for their sporting event. I also just think it’s a pretty one, which I know my Victoria appreciates, too!

Step-by-step tutorial:

  1. Start with 2 high ponytails, one on each side.
  2. Three-strand braid down each one of those ponytails.
  3. Take all of the hair and gather together and create a ponytail.
  4. Divide the ponytail into 2 sections (one with a braid on each side).
  5. Add hair elastics a couple of inches apart down each one.
  6. Take your time and bubble out the section with the braid on top.
  7. You can add ribbons when you’re done, too!

Hair Products To Use on this Hairstyle

Here are the hair products that I used for this particular hairstyle.

HAIR ELASTICS

These are the Teenitor hair elastics I’ve been using lately. I was recommended to use them and couldn’t wait to give them a try. Victoria’s hair is on the thicker side, so I need to make sure I have hair elastics that will hold the hair and be extra durable. I also want to make sure the hair elastics won’t damage or crease the hair.

best hair elastics

  • Strong and stretchy: The elastics are not so thin that they break when you try to stretch, but they are not so thick that you can’t stretch them properly. They have stayed in very fine, soft hair through days of gardening. Also, they slide off the braids when grabbed and pull off clean. No rolling and catching the hair to make knots.
  • Great deal: This is a great deal on 2000 pieces clear rubber elastic hair bands, enough for braiding different hairstyles. You can keep a couple dozen in your purse, another couple dozen in your gym bag, some in your car…you get the idea. Any time you realize you need a hair tie, you’ll have a stash.

The best part is that you get 2000 for under $7!

HAIR STYLING CREAM

It’s the one question I get asked the most lately, and I love it. It’s important to make sure you prep the hair before you create a hairstyle. I love to use hair styling cream because I know it will help to keep the hair smooth and shiny.

I prefer using Dae Hair Styling Cream.
