At the end of last summer Brian and I got a new boat. Well, as you can see by this picture, it wasn’t really new, but rather new to us.
It needed quite a bit of work (I know – shocking!), but Brian got a good deal on it and he was able to work on it over the fall and winter. He wanted a size upgrade from our previous boat, and also something that would allow the dogs to get in and out easier. I just wanted a boat that wouldn’t leak gas or overheat. This boat seemed to fit the bill for our collective needs. And it looked much nicer once we cleaned it up a bit!
Over the weekend we finally had the chance to take our new-to-us boat out for the first time. At 27 ft. it is a lot bigger and more powerful than our previous boat, and it has a small cabin, which I love.
This gives us a little place to hang out if we want to get out of the sun, and we can even sleep in it if we decide to take an overnight trip to Martha’s Vineyard or Block Island this summer.
Most importantly, though, the doggies loved riding on the new boat! Here a are a few pictures from our maiden voyage:
I showed my friend Jackie some of these photos yesterday and she told me she was so proud of me and Brian for fixing up the boat so much. I told her I really couldn’t take any of the credit, and she responded: “You support [Brian’s] crazy ideas, you take the credit.”
I guess I can’t argue with that!
I used to spend every Sunday on my dad’s sailboat until I got pregnant with Maizie. Then he sold it. Now he’s contemplating getting a new one, Teddy really wants him to.
I demand a ride! LOL! love it! good work!
great boat. it cleaned up nicely! I love the “I’m not impressed” look on the doggie face but they seem to love the water!

OMG! That’s awesome!!! I bought a boat in college, fixed it up and sold it before I could afford to get it in the water. HAHA!

I am so excited for you all! I cannot wait to take one of the “maiden voyages”! I spent so much time on my Dad’s boat and these photos are wonderful memories in the making for years and years to come! Love everything about it! xoxox!
