When you’re seeing DOUBLE as a Mommy and Grandma ~

When you’re seeing DOUBLE as a Mommy and Grandma ~

As parents, we may think we have a pretty good handle on memories – People, Places, Things – until something sparks a definitive moment in time from decades ago like the first star on a dark night.

One of these sparks, stars, moments happened to me this morning while I was digging through photo albums in search of our Blizzard of 1978 photos. I found that album, but all the photos were gone. Not gone, but somewhere else. I’ll find them later; because, of course, another photo from the Summer of 1982 had already captured my attention, anyway…

This is my Janie.

And me.

I remember that afternoon at Sesame Place. I remember Janie approaching Oscar’s trash can and not feeling all that Sunny Day, Sweepin’ the clouds away, Everything’s A-OK feeling!

Can you tell? I had to convince Janie that the trash bucket is fun! (It didn’t work.)

Then I blinked and 36 years of the Earth had turned, the sun and the moon had risen and set thousands of times, the stars had twinkled their light, and love and Love and Marriage and Babies arrived…

To Janie’s daughter, Eve ~

… who is Mommy’s DOUBLE!

But doesn’t seem too terrified by Mommy’s bucket purse.

In fact, I think Mommy’s little twinnie wants it!

It’s like this Grandma seeing Double!

Yes, I think as parents, we may think we have a pretty good handle on memories – People, Places, Things – until something sparks a definitive moment in time from decades ago like the first star on a dark night.

Or a little girl in a trash bucket!
