This is a great hairstyle if you’re looking for a hairstyle for a special occasion. I feel like this is one of those hairstyles you could easily dress up or even just wear casually, too. It’s just a great one to keep in mind when you’re looking for something special to do in the hair.

Hairstyles for special occasions are one thing I love to share because I’m all about making sure I can share hairstyles that are simple, easy and doable for anyone. This one in particular is just a super fave of mine.

Step-by-step hair tutorial:

  1. Start by bringing the hair forward.
  2. Take your magic comb (I will link below!) and create a V in the hairline (as you will see me doing on Victoria).
  3. Make sure the sides are even and then brush the hair nice and smooth.
  4. Take this section and create a tight three-strand braid. The key here is making sure the braid is on the tighter side so that it will stay flat.
  5. After you create the braid, grab a small section of hair and add a hair elastic. You want to create a small ponytail.
  6. Then take the braid and fold it over straight back, take the last braid bump and open it up… slowly pull the braid through the ponytail.
  7. Tighten up the ponytail so it’s nice and secure.
  8. Feel free to add a ribbon or a bow. This will dress up the hairstyle a little more!

As you can see, it’s a sweet and pretty half up half down hairstyle for girls. It’s one of those hairstyles that you can easily wear to school or again, a special occasion. It’s a must-try and you definitely want to add into your normal hairstyle rotation.

Hair Products To Use on this Hairstyle

Here are the hair products that I used for this particular hairstyle.

These are the Teenitor hair elastics I’ve been using lately. I was recommended to use them and couldn’t wait to give them a try. Victoria’s hair is on the thicker side, so I need to make sure I have hair elastics that will hold the hair and be extra durable. I also want to make sure the hair elastics won’t damage or crease the hair.

best hair elastics

  • Strong and stretchy: The elastics are not so thin that they break when you try to stretch, but they are not so thick that you can’t stretch them properly. They have stayed in very fine, soft hair through days of gardening. Also, they slide off the braids when grabbed and pull off clean. No rolling and catching the hair to make knots.
  • Great deal: This is a great deal on 2000 pieces clear rubber elastic hair bands, enough for braiding different hairstyles. You can keep a couple dozen in your purse, another couple dozen in your gym bag, some in your car…you get the idea. Any time you realize you need a hair tie, you’ll have a stash.

The best part is that you get 2000 for under $7!

It’s the one question I get asked the most lately, and I love it. It’s important to make sure you prep the hair before you create a hairstyle. I love to use hair styling cream because I know it will help to keep the hair smooth and shiny.

I prefer using Dae Hair Styling Cream.
