Things are happily busy right now.
I’m a fiancée, a dog mom, a daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend.
I’m planning a wedding with Brian. We’re a week away from buying a house.
As far as my career goes, I’m a freelancer and a blogger, so I have several work projects going on at once.
Like everyone else, I’m trying to juggle it all.
As a fitness writer (I launched RhodyFitness.com in June, I write a monthly fitness & health column for Providence Monthly, and I frequently write fitness articles for other publications), you’d probably think I’ve got my own exercise schedule completely under control.
Well, I don’t. Not at the moment, anyway. But I’m working on changing that.
I typically have a set workout schedule that I stick to when I am training for something – a marathon or a Half Ironman, for example – but a foot injury has unfortunately prevented me from running for over 7 months – and put me in a mental funk that has affected my workouts.
I can do other fitness activities that I love (yoga, biking, athletic conditioning workouts), but sometimes even those things give me foot pain. And, well, I miss running.
But as noted above, I am planning a wedding. And I want to look and feel my best on that day.
So I am committing myself to sticking with a fitness regimen – and not just writing about fitness.
I did, after all, become a fitness writer because I love fitness.
You gotta start somewhere, right? Well, I started yesterday with a 45-minute ride on my bike trainer (thanks to Brian for setting it up for me):
It felt GREAT to sweat. I’m hoping to do a few century rides – with Mom! – next spring and summer, so riding on my trainer throughout the winter will help me prepare for those.
Tonight, yoga class and a kickboxing DVD are on the agenda.
Just a little over 8 months until the wedding… and I’m going to be a fit bride!
Something that I’ve gotten used to over the years…watching you set goals and go for it!!
ahh, I can relate on the “writing about fitness while not actually doing fitness” thing! 🙂
Good for you, my friend! I know you’ll look fabulous 🙂
Btw – what is a century run?
