Are hair extensions worth it?

Are hair extensions worth it? It’s a question I’ve been wondering about for my own hair for the last few years. I finally decided to just go for it and I’m absolutely thrilled that I did!

are hair extensions worth it?

I’ve always had very thick hair and it’s always grown pretty quickly, but as I’ve been getting older (I’m 43 years old) and after having my 5 kids, I’ve noticed so many changes with my hair. I continuously seem to have hair breakage issues and my hair just isn’t growing the way it used to.

Ever since I started doing more and more hair videos on TikTok and Instagram, I’ve been thinking more and more about the type of hair extensions out there and what would be best for my hair. I knew if I got hair extensions, I would be able to showcase more and more different kinds of hairstyles, which I thought would be fun to do for myself and my social channels.

are hair extensions worth it?

I wanted to share with you within the blog post why I think hair extensions are worth it. I know I’ve gotten many questions about them throughout the years, and questions that I’ve wondered myself. They can be costly. They can be time-consuming. They can be heavy on your head. There are lots of things I’ve known, but the biggest is that they’re a commitment. Are hair extensions worth it? Yes, I think they are and these are some of the reasons why (for me personally).

are hair extensions worth it?

Let me start off by saying that there are hair extensions for everyone out there. For me, some of the things that I was most concerned about when looking for the ones for me were:

  1. I wanted to make sure the hair extensions looked like real hair.
  2. I wanted to make sure the hair extensions weren’t too heavy for my head.
  3. I needed to make sure they weren’t too expensive.
  4. I wanted to make sure they were easy to clean/use.
  5. I wanted a natural look. I didn’t want anything that looked too fake.

My first piece of advice would be to talk to your hairstylist about finding the best hair extensions for your own hair. There are so many different kinds of hair types and you want to make sure you have the best ones for your hair. if you have fine hair or thin hair, this is something that’s important to keep in mind when looking for the best hair extensions.

If you’re experiencing hair loss or bald spots, this is important to keep in mind when looking for the best ones. The best thing you can do is ask a professional and a great way to do that is by asking the person who cares for your hair at your hair salon.

For me, it was all about adding long hair to my head. Now there are many different types of extensions. The three that I was looking at for myself were the 1) clip-in 2) tape-in 3) sew-in. I wasn’t sure the best one to go with because I just wasn’t used to hair extensions or anything that went into keeping up with them. The tape extensions or sew-in hair extensions seemed like the best for me, but when I chatted with my hairstylist, she explained to me that the upkeep on the sew-in would be a commitment, and that wasn’t something I wanted to do (not yet).

My hairstylist suggested for me the clip-in hair extensions, which answer the question – are hair extensions worth it? – for me, perfectly.

Why?

Well, number one, this is my first time hair extensions. To be honest with you, I wasn’t even sure I would like them or feel comfortable with them in my hair. My hairstylist told me that once they get sewed in, they’re not easy to get in and out. She also explained to me that I’m someone whose very active with my kids and that the clip-ins would be a great option because I can easily take them on and off whenever I wanted to do so.

The cost is also so much better. If I was going to set sew-in extensions they would have cost me $1K+, not to mention the care that they would need and the salon visits to make sure they were taken care of. The clip-ins were as little as $300 for a set of new hair to look like a different person (whenever I wanted to!).

The most important thing for me with the clip-in hair extensions was to make sure it looked like my own natural hair. I also wanted to make sure the color matching was as close as possible and really looked like I had long hair. My hair color is more of a mix of blonde and brown, and Bellami had the perfect match for me. One of my biggest concerns was people being able to tell me that my hair was fake. I mean, I knew the new hair length would throw them off, but if you didn’t know me, I wanted to people to think this was my real hair.

My hairstylist recommended I purchase from Bellami Hair, and the clip-in extensions I got look like real human hair extensions. This has been (hands down) the best option for me ever. The hair extensions even feel real, too! It’s that kind of amazing and they’re such high quality. This is something that you really want to make sure you have when you’re purchasing. Don’t go with anything that’s low quality, go with the highest quality and make sure they look real and feel real.

Bellami Hair offers tons and tons of different types of hair extensions, not just clip-in. They have quality extensions and that’s what stood out to me. I was also super impressed but the kinds of things that go into finding the best hair for you. They have so many different colors and shades for you to choose from. They have amazing options in terms of length and grams (how heavy it is on your head). If you want longer hair, they’ve got that for you. They’ve put in all the hard work at narrowing down the best choices for you and I appreciated that.

So all in all, why clip-in for myself?

  1. They’re super low maintenance. I can’t stress this enough.
  2. I have a lot of flexibility with them. I can take them in and out whenever I want. I don’t have to have them in all the time, which is what I thought I would have to do if I opted for hair extensions. I love these temporary methods because it really does give you so much flexibility.
  3. You can wash them just like regular hair and even out a heat tool to them, too. You treat them like regular hair. It’s AMAZING!
  4. I can change up my look whenever I want. I’m not locked into one hairstyle and one hair length.
  5. You can wear them whenever you want. If you just want them for special occasions, that’s it! You have the ability to do whatever you want to do with them.

The most important benefit of hair extensions is that you can create your dream hair. If you get good extensions you can have the most beautiful hair and the most voluminous hair in the world! They just give you that extra length and extra volume that you desire and it’s amazing. Fake hair is always a good option when you’re looking for some hair fun. I’m obsessed with my clip ins.

How to Wear a Baseball Hat with Long Hair

My best advice to anyone who is new to hair extensions and wondering are hair extensions worth it? Try semi-permanent hair extensions first. See what you look like with long locks before locking yourself into anything permanent out of the gates. Have some fun creating different styles and see how you work with longer hair. Remember… the best quality hair extensions work the best.

I know everyone has that person who has told them horror stories about their hair extensions, but I promise you, this hasn’t been my case at all. I’ve loved mine and really taken the time to get to know how to work with them and keep them looking gorgeous. I know that when it comes to changing up looks, it’s a blast to have fun with some different hair styles. Hair extensions just make it easy to be a little more creative and stylish on the fashion and beauty front.
