2011 was a good year. Yes, it had its sadness, particularly when our Sethy Boy passed away… and its challenges, like the foot injury I developed that has prevented me from running since March… but overall I look back on the year with fond memories.
Some of the highlights:
Cheering for Brian at the finish of his 4th Boston Marathon
Watching Mom train for and complete a marathon
Getting engaged to Brian
Watching Dad train for and complete a 5K
Buying and renovating a house with Brian
Doing my first live TV segment about fitness
Now that it’s 2012, I’m looking forward to continuing wedding planning – July 14 is just over 6 months away! – and working on our house.
A big theme for me this year is simplicity.
I’ve learned that I don’t need a lot in life to be happy. Having the love of Brian, my family and my dogs is really all I need.
Too many things just add clutter and unnecessary chaos. Brian and I donated and/or threw out a lot of our “stuff” when we moved in to our new house. There was simply no room for it all.
Our house is a two-family; we rent out the upstairs unit and live on the first floor. It’s a small apartment, but it is just enough space for us.
This year I hope to continue to simplify and to spend time doing the things I love most: being with Brian and our dogs, being with family, writing, biking and practicing yoga.
Here’s to 2012!
